AT&T opened its first Flagship Store on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile, the retail Candy Land of iconic, trendy, lavish, and specialty boutiques, shops, and department stores. Callison, renowned international architecture firm, was challenged with creating a welcoming, high-tech atmosphere where consumers can engage with current and emerging technology in a low sales pressure, fun and enriching manner. TerraMai’s reclaimed teak is found throughout the store, on the walls, fixtures and furniture, imbuing its warmth and soul soothing nature in that particular way that only teak can.

The store is a great success for AT&T, commercially and aesthetically, taking first place (Service Retail Category) in Retail Design Institute’s 42nd International Store Design Awards. “The 10,000 square foot store breaks the mold of traditional telecom retailing and is designed to “humanize” technology in a way that is fun, interactive and approachable.” (Callison.com)
