Note on Flooring Applications: Walnut is on the softer end of the scale compared to most other hardwoods. As such, it will more easily develop a patina of use evidenced in heel marks and other indentations. In a lower impact residential use, such wear takes much longer to develop than in a high traffic commercial spaces. In a high traffic commercial space, you may decide that one of our harder woods is more suitable, or plan on more frequent cleaning and maintenance and the use of devices to minimize wear and tear, such as smooth-backed chair mats, softer and wider casters and/or chair glides, restricting high heel shoes, etc.
