Sustainable

Prized for its rich color, tight grain, and exceptional strength, Ipe has earned its place as a top choice for high-traffic outdoor spaces. Naturally resistant to decay, mold, insects, and moisture, it performs beautifully in the most demanding environments.

TerraMai takes Ipe further—responsibly. Instead of harvesting from living forests, we reclaim old-growth Ipe submerged in South American reservoirs for decades. Perfectly preserved underwater, this wood is then expertly dried and milled for modern applications, delivering extraordinary performance without contributing to deforestation or illegal logging.

Why Architects Choose TerraMai Ipe

  • Sustainable Sourcing – Water-reclaimed, not forest-harvested; contributes to LEED and avoids the environmental toll of conventional sourcing.
  • Superior Durability – Naturally resists decay, mold, insects, and moisture; ideal for high-use commercial, hospitality, and public spaces.
  • Long Life, Low Maintenance – Ipe’s density and stability ensure decades of service with minimal upkeep.
  • Timeless Aesthetic – Rich brown tones age to a silver-gray patina, suiting designs from modern minimalism to rustic luxury.

Our Clear Protect finish lets the natural beauty of modified wood take center stage. With minimal pigment and maximum clarity, it highlights the rich tones and grain variation that define each species—offering warmth, depth, and authenticity in its purest form. Ideal for projects that call for natural material expression and timeless appeal.

Customizations are also available to help meet project requirements—ensuring your design intent is realized without compromise.
