TerraMai is looking for a seasoned commercial architectural sales professional, or a novice wood superhero, to drive new business in Colorado, Kansas and Missouri. The ideal candidate will have excellent people skills and ruthless prospecting skills. We are looking for a strong cultural fit with our small team. This position will need to be based in either Denver, Colorado or Kansas City, Kansas/Missouri. No remote candidates will be considered.
About the Role
TerraMai is seeking a highly motivated and experienced A&D Outside Sales Professional to cultivate and expand our presence in the Colorado, Kansas and Missouri markets. This role is crucial for driving sales growth by building strong relationships with commercial architects, designers, and other key specifiers. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the A&D community, a passion for sustainable design, and a proven track record of success in outside sales.
Responsibilities:
- Relationship Building: Develop and nurture strong relationships with architects, designers, contractors, developers, and other key decision-makers in the Mid-west A&D community.
- Specification Writing: Actively pursue and secure product specifications for TerraMai’s sustainable wood products on projects of all scales.
- Project Management: Manage the sales process from initial contact through project completion, including lead qualification, presentations, submittals, and follow-up.
- Product Knowledge: Maintain expert-level knowledge of TerraMai’s product offerings, including species, grades, finishes, applications, and sustainable attributes. Stay informed about industry trends and competitive products.
- Sales Strategy: Develop and execute a strategic sales plan for the mid-west territory, identifying key targets and opportunities for growth.
- Networking & Events: Actively participate in industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to build relationships and promote TerraMai’s products.
- CRM Management: Utilize CRM software to track sales activities, manage leads, and generate reports. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions and project details.
- Market Analysis: Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and project developments to identify opportunities and adjust sales strategies accordingly.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including marketing, product development, and customer service, to ensure seamless execution of sales strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Design, Marketing, Business, or a related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in outside sales, specifically within the A&D industry, with a demonstrable track record of success.
- Established relationships with architects, designers, and contractors in the Colorado, Kansas and Missouri markets.
- Deep understanding of the design and construction process.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications.
- Strong negotiation and closing skills.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and highly organized.
- Passion for sustainable building and environmental responsibility.
- Proficient in using Salesforce and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with sustainable building materials, particularly wood products.
- LEED AP accreditation.
- Familiarity with woodworking and millwork.
