TerraMai continues its legacy of leadership in the reclaimed wood and green products industries by having virtually all of our products certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). TerraMai’s FSC-certification number (SCS-COC-001014) assures building professionals and consumers that our products adhere to the strict environmental standards pioneered by FSC, the world’s premiere forest conservation organization. As the market for green building products grows, so too does the amount of deceptive advertising and “green washing” by an ever-increasing number of companies. Sorting through all these claims is essentially impossible, even for the most savvy and well-intentioned consumers. TerraMai was founded on a commitment to environmental conservation in 1991. Since then, we have dealt only with 100-percent reclaimed or salvaged woods. Of the many dozens of species and varieties of reclaimed woods TerrMai offers, only one is not FSC certified, our Hevea flooring, which comes from plantation-salvage rubber trees from Southeast Asia. Over the past 16 years, TerraMai has diverted millions of board feet of lumber from the world’s landfills. In the process, we have given new life to some of the most gorgeous and durable old-growth woods on the planet. These woods continue to add beauty, history and character to residential, commercial and institutional projects throughout the United States and abroad. TerraMai is researching new ways to enhance the sustainability of all aspects of our operation. A commitment to sustainability permeates everything we do. We know our clients expect nothing less.
