Architect Laurence “Renzo” Verbeck, principal of
Verbeck Design Studios, Inc, designed this 8,900 sq ft contemporary
home for Lindsay/Sheafor. Renzo received his Bachelors of Environmental
design from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Renzo uses
his foundation in design, woodworking and sculpting, combined
with his innovative ideas, to create homes of unparalleled
beauty. He has incorporated
“green architecture” where ever possible and has
completed many “off-the-grid” projects.
This modern home is located in the foothills of Boulder,
Colorado. Nestled in the natural, surrounding landscape
results in a peaceful co-existence of a thoroughly modern
comfortable home with the rugged beauty of the mountains.
Renzo and his clients worked together to create a unique
and exciting living space. Their combined efforts discovered
many innovative an artistic design features. Some of these
include a gourmet kitchen and wine cellar, furniture (designed
by Renzo), lighting fixtures, plaster and colors, tiles
and stone, hardwood flooring (reclaimed from railroad ties
from Asia), luminous resin composites for counter tops
and bars, and all of the woodwork.
In addition to a movie theater and two master suites, this
house has a 900 sq ft atrium as its focal point. Landscaped
with vegetation and boulders salvaged from the site, as well
as a gentle two-story waterfall that tumbles through a pond
dancing with lighted treads of a metal-framed staircase.
