What could be a more appropriate material for a San Francisco-based Italian restaurant than cladding made from reclaimed redwood olive tanks originally fabricated in San Francisco?

TerraMai’s reclaimed Olive Tank Redwood siding was used for various exterior elements of the new Ducca restaurant, including the entry way and lighting and gate pillars. The project was designed by San Francisco-based restaurant design firm The Puccini Group.

The clear, old-growth, all-heart redwood used for this project came from tanks built by the George Windeler Company of San Francisco in the 1930s. The distinctive coloring and patina of this material comes from decades spent steeped in olive brine in California’s Central Valley.

Redwood of this quality is virtually unavailable new. It is not only durable enough for the most extreme exterior applications, it is also beautiful and refined enough for the most sophisticated interior spaces.

The Ducca restaurant is part of the recently-completed Argent Hotel renovation project. The Argent Hotel, located near the Moscone Center in Downtown San Francisco, has been “rebranded” as the Westin San Francisco Market Street.
